Interesting theory on the possible relationship between prevention and creation of entropy! Caught your link from SL Future Salon. As sad as Katrina's devastation is, are you sure that the destruction wrought is an increase in entropy? (Not that Entropy is "good" or "evil" in itself.)

One might argue that humans consume and destroy the environment much more quickly than natural processes, and so the removal of human settlements actually may *reduce* entropy in the overall look. What New Orleans was a human made disaster - wetlands that could have shielded (some or all) of floodwaters had been stripped back over years of polluting and development. The political corruption on so many levels of government could also be considered entropic forces - taking away from the order of a properly functioning civilization.

I suppose it's all less straightforward than just a few factors, but I can't help but be reminded of DJ MC Hawkings' cover rendition of Naughty by Nature's "O.P.P". https://www.mchawking.com/multimedia.php?page_function=mp3z *grin* happy 'blogging
