Garden Gnomes and Richard Bartle

I haven't posted anything to this blog for over a year, perhaps because blogging has generally been superseded by Facebook and Twitter, or the time devoted to teaching, writing, reading, travelling, family etc. Since the last post was somewhat depressing in nature, I have decided to remedy that by posting something amusing from my garden. Here are four gnomes that I have collected over the years, who illustrate Richard Bartle's taxonomy of the types of players in virtual worlds, i.e. (from left to right) the Achiever, the Explorer, the Griefer and the Socializer. Enjoy the last few precious days of summer!
